What intrigues me about synthesis is the endless possibilities I can come up with using just a few patches.
I often end up spending a lot of time trying to perfect a sound I want on a patch, and end up finding new sounds for random ideas instead. That's what I enjoy about the process as well, the experimentation.
Sci-fi weapons in games will always be impressive to me, as there is no real-life reference for them. All sounds designed for them have to be created with a vision in the mind of the designer.

Here is a sound redesign I did for the iconic 'Energy Sword' from Halo 4, mostly with the use of a wavetable synthesizer I installed on REAPER. Although this is a short clip, I've realised how some sounds come to be, such as the sounds of the iconic 'Lightsaber' extending and retracting.
